My review:
A few minutes into reading this book, I was laughing hysterically. And those first few pages set the tone for the rest of the story. This is one of those books that you just can’t put down – it’s impossible. It should come with a sticker on it: WARNING: you will fall off your chair laughing. A piece of advice from me, if you are sitting on a chair, place cushions around yourself, that way if you do fall off, the book will have a soft landing (might prevent yourself a bit of a bump too)!
Edie is at her colleagues’ wedding and something Edie didn’t expect when she steps out for a breather after watching the bridesmaid murder a famous Julie Andrews song in her very own rendition, is being kissed by the groom. And something she expected even less, is the bride finding them in such a compromising position. Harassed and embarrassed, Edie is shamed into quitting her job. But her boss comes up with a solution and offers her a sabbatical away from the nasty comments and bullying antics of her colleagues and into the world of famous actor Elliot Owen. Tasked with the job of ghost-writing his autobiography, Edie is confronted with arrogance and rudeness from Elliot. But on their little journey together, they both realise that there is more to one another than meets the eye …
This isn’t your typical will-they-won’t-they. It is so much more.
Mahairi’s brilliant way with words and incredible talent for seeing the hilarity in situations draws us in and claims full charge over our funny bone. What a fabulous read. I can’t recommend it enough … one more piece of advice though, don’t read in public, you’ll get a few funny looks when you start laughing out of nowhere.
Funny. Heart-warming. Funny – again.
