My Review:

When I was asked if I would like to review Little Bones, I couldn’t have been happier. The blurb for it is one of the most intriguing I have read. I had very high hopes for it and rightly so. This is a fast-paced, suspenseful read that will have you whipping through the pages, frantic to discover what happens in the next chapter, and the next and the next. Suffice to say, it is very addictive. This is the first instalment in the Cathy Connolly series. And I can’t WAIT to read the second.

Detective Garda Cathy Connolly’s life takes a sudden and unexpected turn when she makes a frightening discovery on the scene of what seems like a garden variety break-in. The discovery of a cluster of small bones sewn into the hemming of an old wedding dress. Baby bones. Horrified, Cat tracks down the dress’s owner, the doyenne of irish fashion Lavinia Grant, only to find her dead in her home. With secrets and lies abounding, Cat must sieve through the darkness that surrounds the Grant family and separate the truths from the untruths…

Sam Blake’s writing is smooth and evocative. So many of the books’ descriptions I wanted to reread over and over again. And it lends itself beautifully to a story as deep and dark as this.

Little Bones has numerous viewpoints and through them tells an intricate, finely detailed story that is both exciting and reverting. This book transcends the ordinary. As soon as I read about the bones in the blurb I knew it would.

Little bones will knock you off your feet and in the way only a superlative read truly can, prove impossible to banish from your thoughts.

Engrossing. Dark. Brilliant.
