Welcome to my stop on the blog tour today! I’m delighted to share my review of Entrapped by Claire Ayres!
Cellist, Luka, has moved to Bristol to start a new job and recover from the betrayal of finding his best friend and his girlfriend in bed together. He doesn’t plan on the emotional thunderstorm that meeting his next-door neighbour Jess causes.
Jess had everything, a man she loved, friends she adored and then the world crashed around her. Depression came from nowhere and slowly started ripping her life away. Now she lives a lonely, sad life but the music which she keeps hearing next door is waking her up and she doesn’t know why.
Join Luka and Jess as they discover life after heartache, how to forgive and how to live and love again.
Jess and Ade were the perfect couple. Three years of love, support and friendship. Now things have changed. They are no longer the people they used to be. Jess is sad, lonely and unmotivated. Despite all attempts, she can’t claw back the girl she was when they got together, the girl who was once so hopeful and optimistic. Ade is aggressive and cruel, throwing blame and sharp words that splinter between them. When Jess is diagnosed with mild depression, she falls back on the support of her two best friends, Katie and Jay. But when Jess tells Ade, an argument swiftly follows, and soon after he packs his bags and leaves her for good. Jess is heartbroken and must find a new way of living without him.
Luka Bartelli is adjusting to life in Bristol after a break-up that tore him apart. His best friend and girlfriend betrayed him and now he can’t trust easily. The pace of life in Bristol is much slower than in London but it suits Luka perfectly. He can finally focus on himself for the first time in years. As a cellist in the Bristol Symphony Orchestra, Luka finds release in his music but sometimes even his music can’t abate the heartache from losing both his best fiend and his lover.
When Luka and Jess meet, their lives suddenly change. A spark ignites and slowly they begin to unpick each other’s fears and doubts. They might finally be able to leave behind the tragedies which left them devastated and move on.
I’m so thrilled to be included on the blog tour for Entrapped by friend and brilliant book blogger Claire Ayres! This book deals with some heavy themes, such as depression and it was heartbreaking to see how it affects Jess. Claire seamlessly describes the emotions in this book with a deep understanding of her characters. I’m looking forward to seeing where the series goes next!
Intriguing. Surprising. Emotional.
