Welcome to my stop on the blog tour today! I’m delighted to share this wonderful extract from Ouija by Zoe-lee O’Farrell, kick-ass book blogger turned kick-ass author, and very good friend of mine! I’m super excited and proud to be involved in her blog tour! Before we dive into the brilliant extract, here is a little more about Ouija and Zoe-lee.

About the Book:

The only thing for certain is the deaths were no accident.

Rayner High School once a prestigious school stands in ruins after such a terrible event.

A year later, a group of friends return to the abandoned school and their nightmare begins.

Something wants to get out and won’t take NO for an answer…

Ouija is Book 2 in a new series brought to you by Question Mark Horror. For fans of Point Horror, Christopher Pike & Nicholas Pine.

About the Author:

Zoé O’Farrell grew up in Watford but left the town life to live by the sea down at the White Cliffs of Dover.
She spends her days working with numbers before escaping in the evening to the world of words and movies. Her go-to relaxation is watching a scary movie or reading a terrifying book!

She is a book blogger and tour organiser just to keep her extra busy. When she is not reading or writing, you can usually find her watching Watford FC or at a gig. Failing that she can be found rolling her eyes at her husband as he acts the same age as her spitfire of a Mini-Me whilst separating her two cats.

Ouija is her debut novel.

Jon grinned, “OK, let’s do the warmup. Just rest your middle finger on the planchette and we’ll move it gently around the board. Once we have done that, only lightly touch the planchette so that no one is able to push it.”

They all put a bit of pressure on the planchette, again in the same order, Jon, Lara, Ben, Caley, and Sophie tentatively added her finger. With the pressure from their fingers, the planchette glided across the A3 makeshift Ouija board.

Jon couldn’t sit still, he was too excited, the chair creaked with his every movement.

“Jon, calm down! We get you’re excited, but can we get this over with? I’m still not over the Mr Mallory incident,” Sophie squeaked.

“Alright, alright.” He put his hand up defensively. “Simon, are you ready to take notes, should anything come up?” Simon nodded and was now poised protectively next to Sophie with his pen and paper.
“OK, everyone remove the pressure from your finger and we will get started.” Jon took a moment. It’s really happening. He was just composing himself when it felt like something shifted in the room. He looked at the candles, all six were still burning, one for each of them. But the room suddenly seem a bit darker. Jon coughed. Shaking his head he thought, The girls have just started to scare me. Nothing to worry about. Let’s begin!

“OK, I am going to start with some simple yes or no questions to see if there’s anyone willing to talk to us,” Jon explained confidently. Projecting his voice, he started. “If there is anyone here with us tonight, can you tell me, using Yes or No, whether I, Jon, am wearing a black jumper?”

Caley giggled, “Really, Jon? You want to see if any spirits here approve of your fashion sense?”

Jon tutted, “No, but as I just literally said, we have to ask Yes or No questions to get someone’s interest. Now, shh.”

They sat around the table, staring at the board, waiting for something to happen. It felt like ten, maybe fifteen minutes had passed, when it was only two. Still nothing happened.
Ben sniggered, “Maybe the spirits don’t like your jumper.”

“Or maybe they think it’s a lame question,” chimed Caley.

Jon stared at Ben as if he would love to throttle him. Through gritted teeth he said, “What did I just say about being polite?” Now looking at Caley, he continued. “That is to each other, too, you know.”

Ben put his left hand up in a sign of sorry and pretended to zip up his mouth. Lara sat there smirking and nudged Ben’s knee. Jon saw this and rolled his eyes, God these two really piss me off.

“Fine, I will ask another question then. Is the-”

However, that sentence never got finished as the planchette started to wobble.
